Daruma Japanese Steak House & Sushi Bar

Russell and I have found the best Sushi bar in Jacksonville. Actually, it might be better than any in Atlanta, as well. The food is so good, and the service is excellent. Part of the reason the service is so excellent is because Russell and I have made friends with the Sushi Chef. His name is Jeff. Yes, that's him on the right. Jeff is a true artist when it comes to Sushi. He arranges the food on our plates into dragons and flowers. (Down below is not one of his best. Maybe he was tired that day.) He also likes to give us little "gems" to take home. Carrot butterflies and flowers, a cucumber crab, and a tomato basket filled with carrot flowers and parsley greenery. It's all so neat! Sometimes he also gives us a taste of "Jeff's Special." We'll just sit down and he'll hand us some food. Unfortunately, the last time he did this, he gave us a sushi roll with jellyfish in it. He didn't say anything until I was already chewing. It was kinda yucky. However, Jeff can do no wrong with me. He's a fave.

Daruma also has a pretty good steak house section. You know, where the chef throws knives and starts the food on fire. It's a pretty good show. We like the sushi so much, it's hard to tear ourselves away from the sushi bar to enjoy the cooked food. :)
